Join Our Team: Temporary Early Literacy Community Liaison

Position will be 12 hours a week for 12 weeks.

The primary responsibilities of the individual in this position are to develop, coordinate and perform outreach activities for early literacy promotion to parents of children ages birth to five years.

Role Essentials

Conducts early literacy outreach for parents/caregivers of children, birth to five years.
Work with schools, daycares, WIC, Head Start, teen parenting groups, Boy & Girls Club, and other community organization that serve children to promote early literacy.
Works closely with Public Services Librarian planning distribution of informational early literacy brochures and registers children for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Book Program.
Reports to Public Services Librarian, prepare monthly reports and forward as directed.
Performs other related and necessary duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or experience in early literacy programming required.
Ability to work with limited supervision.
Extensive knowledge of the local Community is necessary.
Valid Driver’s License and a vehicle to do site visits.

Working Environment:

Must be capable of traveling to and from various work locations when promoting /delivering program services.
May be exposed to variable weather conditions.
Work involves standing, walking, driving, and may require lifting up to 50lbs.
